Shiva Ram defends title
2012-03-09KATHMANDU, March 8: Nepal No 1 Shiva Ram Shrestha claimed the title of the Surya Nepal NPGA Tour Championship at the par-72 Gokarna Golf Club on Thursday. Defending champion Shiva Ram carded two-under 70 for the total of one-under 287 to register four-shot victory over Toran Bikram Shahi, who played six-over 78 today. Toran -- who led the tournament for the first three days with the scores of 66, 75 and 72 -- squandered a four-stroke lead to surrender the title. Shiva Ram, who was 12 strokes off the lead after the first round, won his seventh title under the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2011-12. With the win Shiva Ram earned Rs 80,000, while Toran - who finished with the total score of three-over 291 -- was restricted to Rs 50,000. KATHMANDU, March 7: Toran Bikram Shahi carded even-par 72 to maintain his four-stroke lead after the third round of the Surya Nepal NPGA Tour Championship at the par-72 Gokarna Golf Club on Wednesday. Toran, who carded six-under 66 on the first day and three-over 75 on the second, is four strokes ahead with the total of three-under 213. Nepal No 1 and defending champion Shiva Ram Shrestha carded four-under 68 for the total of one-over 217 to climb up to second position. Toran maintains lead after second day
2012-03-08KATHMANDU, March 6: Toran Shahi shot three-over 75 to maintain the lead after the second round of the Surya Nepal NPGA Tour Championship at the par-72 Gokarna Golf Club on Tuesday. Toran, who carded six-under 66 on the first day, is atop the leaderboard with a total of three-under 141. Despite playing three-over, Toran is four strokes ahead of Sanjay Lama. Sanjay, who played two-over 74 on the first day, carded one-under 71 today for a total of one-over 145. Toran carded one-under 35 on the front nine but played a four-over 40 on the back nine. His front nine included birdies on the third and ninth hole against a bogey on the eighth hole.
